EMX-30 provides exclusive subject positioning distance indicators, so that the subject can quickly and reliably place his or her eyes within the capture zone. Thanks to its unique distance calculation capability, subjects no longer need to guess at or hunt for correct eye placement. LED’s located within the mirror’s display easily guide the subjects into the correct position: a blue light indicates too far away, red too close, and green indicates the correct distance.


The proprietary face-finding function makes this a touch-free system. The iris imager head automatically tilts to the correct angle for each subject, quickly adjusting for the subject’s height. This tilt head feature is also optically implemented, so that EMX-30 can be placed behind an optical glass or plastic partition, such as those found in a kiosk or outdoor protective enclosure.


The EMX-30 simultaneously collects both iris images. This real time image quality metrics assure that all images exceed the ISO 19794-6 standards for image quality, ensuring optical matching accuracy, even for very large subject populations. Highly affordable, the EMX-30 is USB-based, and requires only a minimally configured PC that is placed within the USB standard cable length to operate.

Simplest and most repeatable subject interface available:


  • Partially transparent mirror guides subject placement in X-Y dimensions
  • Easy to use color LED’s at center of mirror indicate correct placement of 32 to 35 cm (enrollment mode) in Z dimension.


The subject should be instructed to:

  • Place the reflection of his / her eyes in the center of the mirror;
  • Keep eyes open;
  • Look at the colored LEDs and move his / her head toward or away from system according to the color;
  • Stop when LED is green, and hold the position for about 1 second.

Proprietary optics for positioning indicators eliminate parallax viewing problems The proprietary and patented design of the color LEDs for distance positioning can only be viewed by one eye at a time, eliminating any parallax viewing problems that might cause the subject to repo­sition his / her head. The result is a smooth and intuitive positioning experience, even if the subject’s head is positioned slightly to one side.
Automatic vertical height adjustment The system accommodates subjects of different heights. After auto­matically locating the subject’s face and eyes, the EMX-30 tilts the iris imaging subsystem. This function is optical, which allows for utilization behind optical glass or plastic shielding.

High speed, simultaneous dual iris image capture sensors Both iris images are collected at a frame rate of 30 frames per second. ro provide a very fast and optimzied user experience. In addtion, the system monitors in real time various quality metrics to determine which iris image pairs should be selected as the biometric sample.
Near-real time off-axis gaze detection Capturing the correct position of the eyes is essential for optimal iris biometrics. The system automatically detects subject gaze angle (i.e. whether the subject is looking directly ahead at the imager). If the subject is looking away, the system will automatically wait until the subject looks straight ahead before capturing a valid iris biomet­ric image.
Motion detection System detects subject eye motion during the capture sequence, and waits until subject meets motion threshold (which is adjustable) in order to assure there is no adverse motion blurring.
Optional extended range capture Capture range can be extended to 60mm (approximately 300 to360mm from subject) through an SDK setting for additional subject ease of use and capture speed.
Face image capture Face images are collected in synchronization with the biometric iris images, so that the data record consists of one face image and two iris image. The face images do not qualify as ISO standard, and therefore are not intended for face recognition or an ID card photo but are intended for manual verification of the subject’s identity and association in the data record with the iris images.
