Configure Email Server

This tutorial helps an authorized operator such as an administrator to configure an email server and manage it. Using this email server, the Unifyia platform delivers email when relevant events are triggered.

NOTE
You can only add one email server at a time. To add a new email server, you must first delete the existing configured server.
  1. Log in to the platform.
  2. On the Dashboard page, navigate to Configuration > Notification Providers.
  3. Select + Add Provider > Add Email Server.
  4. Provider Name: Provide a name for this email server configuration.
  5. Host: Provide the mail server hostname, e.g. smtp.office365.com
  6. Port: Provide the port number for the outgoing email server. The default port number is 587. For the 587 port to transmit emails, the StartTLS option must also be enabled.
  7. From Address: Provide the email address of your organization.
  8. Password: Provide the password to authenticate to the email server.
  9. Protocol: Select the protocol as SMTP (Simple Mail Transfer Protocol).
  10. Retry Count: Specify the maximum number of retry attempts if an attempt to send the email fails.
  11. Connection Timeout (Seconds): Select the maximum duration in seconds to establish a connection with a server before restarting.
  12. SSL: If you require security mode to be SSL (Secure Sockets Layer) protocol, slide the toggle button to the right. This establishes a secure, encrypted mail channel for email transmissions.
  13. StartTLS: If you choose to turn an existing email server connection into a secure one, slide the toggle button to the right.
  14. SMTP Server Authentication: If SMTP server authentication is a must to establish a connection, enable this option by sliding the toggle button to the right.
  15. Email Address: Provide the email address of a recipient and select Test SMTP Configuration to test if the connection is established. If the platform displays the confirmation message and the recipient has received a test email, the connection is successfully established.
  16. Select Save to complete the configuration.

Manage Email Servers

  1. Log in to the Unifyia platform.
  2. On the Dashboard page, navigate to Configuration > Notification Providers. The configured email and SMS service provider are displayed.

  5. To delete an email server, select the Bin icon and select Yes to confirm or No to exit the process.
