Unifyia Operator Client - Windows

Unifyia Operator Client v2.2.3 is an application running as a Windows service that interacts with multiple devices to perform requested operations on the devices. The service interacts with the multiple types of card readers, fingerprint scanners, iris scanners, signature pads, card printers, and cameras that are required to work with the Unifyia platform on the Windows OS. Apart from the device interaction, the Client also supports ICAO compliance for face and WSQ format for fingerprints. Unifyia Operator Client is a service specifically designed for operators who interact with all the supported devices mentioned under the Supported Devices list.

Operators who use multiple types of devices while interacting with the Unifyia platform. For example, suppose an operator needs to register a user and capture their biometrics, such as fingerprints. In this scenario, the operator requires a fingerprint scanner that interacts with the platform to facilitate the fingerprint capturing process. The device client serves as a proxy between the fingerprint device and the platform, enabling the successful capture of the user's fingerprints.

Software Distribution

The client supports Windows 64-bit OS and requires minimum RAM of 2GBS. You will find the Installation files for operator client application in the Device Client > Windowsfolder in the software distribution packages shared with you. The Client for an operator is packaged as Unifyia_Operator_Client_x64_2.2.3.exe and is available only for Windows OS.

Supported Functions

The following are the supported functions for operators:

  1. Install and list all connected devices automatically.
  2. To read and write the information into PCSC - Contact and Contactless Cards
  3. Capture ID documents using a document scanner
  4. Captures scanned face, fingerprint, and iris images and, after saving, sends them to the calling APIs.
  5. Personalize and print cards
  6. During operations, it displays error and timeout messages.

Biometric Type Description

Fingerprints

With the fingerprint readers, the Client supports the generation of fingerprint templates per the ANSI and ISO-compact 19794 compliance standards. It also supports the WSQ format for all fingerprints captured by fingerprint scanners.

Face

The Client supports ICAO compliance for the camera-captured face image.

Iris

The Client supports the generation of iris templates per the ANSI and ISO-compact 19794 compliance standards.


Install Client

This section will walk you through the process of setting up (installing) the Operator Client service. You will receive a client package meant for operators. On your local machine, download and extract the Client application that was shared with you. Follow the installation instructions for your operating system. This section will walk you through the set-up process of the Client on Windows.

  1. Click on the .exe file shared with you.
  2. If necessary, change the location; otherwise, keep the default location.
  3. Check the box to confirm that you have read and agreed to the terms and conditions.
  4. Select Install.
  5. The setup wizard installs the Client.
  6. Select Finish once the installation is completed.

Uninstall Client

In this section, you will learn how to uninstall the Client on the Windows and Mac machines.

Windows

Follow the below steps to uninstall the Client application on a Windows machine.

  1. Open the Run window (Windows key + R) and type Control panel.
  2. Go to the Programs > Programs and Features menu.
  3. Look for and select the Client.
  4. Right-click on it and select the option Uninstall.

Troubleshooting

This section will assist you in resolving basic service issues that may arise while using the service.

Windows Service is unavailable or unresponsive

If the Client service is not responding and appears to be offline, you must determine whether or not the service is active. Follow the steps outlined below.

  • Open the Run window (Windows key + R) and type services.msc.
  • Search for the Client and start it if it is not already running.

If the issue persists, navigate to the installation path where the Client application files are located. The application logs are stored in a file called client.log. For a resolution, send the log file to the support team. The default installation path is C:\Program Files\Unifyia\Client\logs\client.log.
