Notification Settings

This tutorial provides you an overview about the notification settings feature and guides you to customize email and sms notifications as required by your organization.

Overview

The notification module within the Unifyia platform facilitates communication between the system and its users using email and SMS channels. It enables system-wide notifications to keep the platform users, categorized under different groups, informed and engaged with timely updates and alerts. Its design facilitates the customization of notifications to be triggered according to specific events or conditions such as new user enrollment, activation of identity devices, expiry of certificates, expiry of biometrics for users belonging to a particular group.

The notification module includes a few pre-defined SMS and email notifications for each selected group (users, operators) that can be customized as required by your organization.

Currently, the platform supports notifications for a user and registrar groups only. It does not support creating new notifications. However, you may contact Unifyia if you have specific requirements.

Predefined Notifications for Users

The following is the list of the pre-defined notification templates available for users for sending emails and SMS messages:

Templates for User Group Description
Welcome Email Notifies the user of successful registration on the Unifyia platform.
Enrollment Invitation Notifies the user to contact authorities to complete enrollment.
Enrollment Application Submitted Informs the user that the enrollment application was submitted and sent for review/approval.
Enrollment Approval Informs the user about enrollment approval.
Enrollment Rejection Informs the user about enrollment rejection.
Activation PIN Notifies the users to activate their issued credential using the activation PIN provided in the email. This email is triggered when the selected identity type in the workflow has either PIV or PIV+FIDO2, and the device activation using PIN option is enabled.
Authentication PIN Provides the user the authentication PIN for the issued credential. This email is triggered when the selected identity type in the workflow has either PIV or PIV+FIDO2, and the device activation using PIN option is not enabled.
Identity Device Activation Successful Notifies the user that their identity device is now activated.
PIN Change Confirmation Inform the user that the PIN for a specific identity device has changed.
Unifyia ID Wallet Registration Invite Notifies a user to register the Unifyia ID Wallet app.
Identity Credential Expiration Warning Warns the user that one or more credentials are expiring.
New Identity Device Added Informs the user about a newly added identity device.
Identity Device Revoked Informs the user about a revoked identity device
Application Added Notifies the user that a new application or service is added.
Account Suspended Due to Expired Biometrics Sends a notice to the users informing that their biometrics validity has expired and their account is suspended until further action i.e. they need to update their biometrics.
Biometrics Update Request Sends a notice to users informing that they need to update their biometrics. This email is triggered based on the value set for the Biometrics Validity Expiration under Configuration > General Settings > Policies and Settings.
Certificate Expired Notice Informs the user that the certificate has expired.
Enrollment Verification Status Informs the user about the enrollment verification result when either one or both the investigations fail.
Enrollment Verification Successful Informs the user that the enrollment verification was successful.

Predefined Notifications for Registrars

The following is the list of the pre-defined notification templates available for registrars for sending emails and SMS messages:

Templates for Registrar Group Description
Users with Expired Biometrics This notification informs operator about the users whose biometrics are expiring. It sends a CSV file as an attachment with the list of the users.
Users with Expiring Biometrics This notification informs operator about the users whose biometrics expired. It sends a CSV file as an attachment with the list of the users.

Managing Notifications

The notification module allows you to manage Email and SMS notifications individually. You can perform the below actions for each pre-defined notification template for a selected group:

  • Enable/Disable Email Notification
  • Enable/Disable SMS Notification
  • Edit Notification
  • Reset Notification
  1. Log in to the platform.
  2. Navigate to Notifications > Notification Settings.
  3. Select a group from the Notification Groups drop-down list.
  4. Select a notification.
  5. Enable/Disable an SMS Notification: Slide the toggle bar to the right to enable and to the left to disable a selected SMS notification.
  6. Enable/Disable an Email Notification: Slide the toggle bar to the right to enable and to the left to disable a selected email notification. 
  7. Edit Template: Select Edit to customize the template as per your organization's policies. Select Update to save the template after editing it. You can modify the content within the content fields listed below:
    1. SMS Body
    2. Template Description
    3. Provider Name
    4. Subject
    5. Email Body
  8. Reset Template: Select the Reset Template icon to revert the notification to its original state.
